If you have fibromyalgia, you know the meaning of the word PAIN. Yet, you may have a hard time getting others to understand–or even believe–that you’re suffering.
That’s because fibromyalgia can’t be seen. There’s nothing visible on your skin. Nothing shows up on blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs. Fibro is invisible.
Your doctors can’t treat something they can’t see. This is where the word, “psychiatrist” enters your conversations with doctors, family members and close friends.
But you know that your pain isn’t a delusion and that you are not suffering from a mental illness.
Your doctors, family, and friends just don’t get it.
But we do.
At New Freedom Health, we know that the pain you’re feeling is all too real. It’s caused by a condition we call Post-Traumatic Pain Syndrome, or PTPS.
The injuries you suffer during your lifetime–emotional and physical–can have a long-lasting impact on your central nervous system. Stressful experiences cause neurological trauma. These include:
- Automobile and other accidents
- Deaths of loved ones
- Physical injuries, illnesses, and surgeries
- Family crises
- Marriage and relationship problems
- Occupational stress
- Financial difficulties
- Psychological, physical, and sexual abuse
Long after your apparent recovery from an emotional crisis or physical injury, the “imprint” of the trauma remains on your central nervous system. This imprint can lie dormant for years, even decades. When it emerges, it causes intense physical pain. This is Post-Traumatic Pain Syndrome. It’s the underlying cause of fibromyalgia.
Because nothing can be seen on medical tests, your doctors are likely to dismiss your pain as “phantom” or “psychosomatic.” There are no mainstream medical treatments that can help you.
Are you willing to try something different?
Somatic Facilitation Therapy (SFT) is a new approach that offers a natural, drug-free alternative for relief of chronic pain.
“Somatic” comes from “soma,” the Greek word for body. SFT focuses on the profound relationship between a person’s mental state and physical condition. It’s based on the scientifically established fact that emotional and psychological trauma can cause physical pain.
SFT is a form of bodywork. However, SFT is not massage – its focus is neurological rather than musculoskeletal.
Our unique method facilitates a deep sense of calm that releases you from pain.
